My Favorite Foods

As I am going through this fast, it’s interesting to notice which foods I am desiring.   Through this process, I am getting clearer on the foods that I love to eat.   I’m writing this down so that I don’t forget, and I’m sharing with you for inspiration!   It will be so fun to have my very own list of go-to foods and go-to recipes that is actually based on what I love and prefer to eat as opposed to pulling inspiration from other people’s books or blogs.   In addition to my favorite foods, I have a running list of new things that I want to try.    The list will evolve over time (I am sure) but for now, this is what I have captured.

My Favorite Foods to Build a Salad or Dish Around

  • Red bell pepper
  • Grape tomatos
  • Hierloom tomatos
  • Cauliflower
  • Zucchini
  • Arugula
  • Bibb lettuce
  • Quinoa
  • Seaweed: (Nori sheets, and hijiki are my favorite)
  • Sheep and Goat cheeses
  • Fresh fish from the farmer’s market (Salmon, Sea Bass, and Rainbow Trout are my favs)

My Favorite Snacks and Treats

  • Cerignola and Castelvetrano Olives(found at the olive bar in Whole Foods and other gourmet stores)
  • Trader Joe’s Olive Tapenad Spread with raw carrot  chips
  • Nori wrapped romaine carrot avocado salad dipped in Tamari
  • Dark chocolate bars (Coconut Secret and CocoNib are my current favorite brands)
  • Whole Foods brand chocolate truffles
  • Chips (Kale chips I love, but they don’t provide enough of a hard crunch.  I need to come up with a detox friendly hard crunch chip)
  • Red bell pepper wedges topped with Roquefort blue cheese (sheep cheese found at Trader Joe’s)
  • Pecorino Romano (sheep cheese) dipped in honey
  • Basil Cashew Cheese Spread with Herbed Flax Crackers (I’ll post recipes later)

Some of My Favorite Dishes

New Dishes I Want to Try

My Favorite Ethnic Flavors

  • Thai (coconut lime)
  • Thai Massaman curry sauce to smother over steamed veggies
  • Ginger sesame sauce (clear sauce, not tahini based)

Dishes that I Want to Make Detox Friendly

  • Indian creamed spinach (like this one)
  • Indian vegetable makhani sauce to smother over steamed veggies (like this one with less cream and butter, or like this one without chicken or almonds)
  • Indian vegetable masala curry sauce to smother over steamed veggies (like this one)
