Metamorphosis Day 1

This morning I woke up at 4:47 a.m. when my alarm went off.  I just remembering wondering why I was hearing that noise at that hour.  There was about a minute where I just laid in bed considering aborting my plans for the morning work out.  But I have come to the realization that 5:00 a.m. LITERALLY is the only time I can fit it into my day.  I am committed to this process, so I actually rolled out of bed, and got started!  Yay me!

I feel proud of the fact that I have figured out a workout time that works, that I can stick to.  I tried 4:30 a.m. (too early), 6:00 a.m. (too late), 4:00 p.m. (too busy).  5:00 allows me time to work out for 1.5 hours before I get my kids up at 6:30 and get us all out of the house on time to start our days.

I also feel proud of the fact that I finally figured out how to set up my workout space.  After about a year of considering the garage, the basement, the office, the dining room, the formal living room, just yesterday, I settled on the TV/family room, and it worked out great.   I just went through a remodel of the first floor.   So lucky me: I have hard wood floors and sofas with pads on the feet.   This makes it easy to move the furniture around.   I also have a nice corner in the room to store my rebounder.    Finally, the family TV console at 5:00 a.m. is well positioned and not used by my little muchkins – so this space works!

So, this morning as planned, at 5:00 a.m., I laced up my new Mizuno Inspire tennis shoes and started with the Tracy Anderson 30 minute Muscular Structure DVD (from the Metamorphosis Series).   Then I did 30 minutes of Tracy Andersons rebounding DVD on my mini-trampoline (so much fun!), followed by half of the 30 minute Metamorphosis dance cardio DVD.   I was a little behind schedule, as this was my first time moving the furniture around, setting up the DVDs, etc, so I allowed myself some slack and “only” did 30 minutes of dance cardio.

In total though, I got in a solid 75 minute workout, 45 minutes of that being cardio.

I know going into this that I will be sore, and I may feel sort of “flu-like” for the first 30 days.   Today was like that.  I was mostly foggy in the head and felt very tired.   I just know that I will have to pull through these next several days feeling like that.  But I know that on the other side I will have much more energy and clarity – so I’m doing it!

  1. Well done as being so dedicated as to get up so unbelievably early! Do you go to bed early too to get your 8 hours? Why did you decide on doing 45 minutes cardio as opposed to 60 or 30?

    • Thanks for the encouragement! I don’t usually get a full eight hours of sleep. It’s more like six. In order to add exercise into my life something had to give and it was that extra sleep. It’s a bummer, but my rest day is Sundays, so I get to sleep in then. :). As for the duration of cardio, my approach is to aim for 60 minutes (30 rebounding and 30 dance cardio), and at times when my schedule is tight compromise at 45 minutes or settle for 30 minutes. I aim high, and feel satisfied if I can only do 30 minutes.
